Landscape Book
The photographs in this book are the result of a five year (2005-2009) photoshoot. I wanted to capture the area around Stroud throughout the seasons, with all its changes of light and texture.
The Cotswolds, in general, have long been painted and photographed but Stroud, where five valleys converge, has largely been ignored, until quite recently, I wanted to help rectify this.
I decided that a panoramic format was the best way to show the majesty of the views, especially those of the Severn Valley.
I have been walking these hills for almost thirty years now and I still come across different aspects of the area that both surprise and delight me.
We are blessed with having large tracts of open common land around Stroud so that anyone can enjoy seeing what I see.
I hope this book encourages you to get out and "stand and stare". If you can't then I hope these pictures are the next best thing.
The quote on the cover is from "Leisure" by W.H. Davies, who lived and died in Nailsworth.
